Are meal worms attracked to food with greater sugar content?

Goal: To see if meal worms are attracted more to water or chocolate milk
Materials: Paper plate, Bread, Chocolate Milk, Water
Hypothesis: We had predicted that the meal worms would be attrached to the bread that was dipped in chocolate milk over the bread dipped in water.
Procedure: For this experiment we had dipped two piece of bread, one in water and the other in chocolate milk to see if the meal worms perferred the sweeter food substance over the non-sweet food substance. We had place the bread on two opposite ends of the box, and then put the meal worms in the middle of the two pieces. We then covered the box to see which piece of bread they would be drawn toward. We left the box covered for one minute tand then revealed which piece had more meal worms.
Observations: The meal worms were slow at first to travel to either side of the plate but once we put a cover on the plate they moved much quicker and were closer to the choloclate milk when we looked inside. Some did go towards the water first and then went to the milk.
Results: Our hypothesis had proved to be correct. After revealing the results after a minute, almost all of the meal worms had chosen the bread dipped in chocolate mik, the sweeter choice.
Independent variables: Temperature of milk and water, light exposure
Dependent Variables: Reaction of mealworms/beetles.
